TYPOGRAPHIC REVIEW — ORIGINAL FROM MOTION TO TIME
Read-only review, 2 November 2026

Scope
Read the full original paper/paper_style.sty and the supplied-reference style
analysis. Rendered and inspected original PDF pages1,2,3,4,7,9,14,19,25,31,45,52.
Inspected body-font spans on pages3,4,7,14,25,45. The source PDF has52pages.
No manuscript source files changed by this reviewer.

Recommendation
Retain the original editorial identity. XCharter with matching newtxmath works
well in the dense mathematical content. The blue section hierarchy, muted
running furniture, EVOCON mark, and33pt/26pt two-line title make From Motion
to Time identifiable. The52-page report and technical supplement have a different
reading task from the compact two-column LeVJEPA reference; forcing its exact
layout would reduce figure/equation room and alter the identity the user values.
Use reference-derived restraint and a pale-blue abstract, not a font substitution.

Specific low-risk changes
1. Keep A4,22mm side margins, single-column body,10.6pt type and14.05pt baseline.
Define normalsize explicitly so size resets follow the intended system.
However, don't claim an observed original size defect: measured original body
text is already approximately10.6pt. Slight extracted size differences come
from microtype font expansion and PDF point conversion.
2. Define small at9.3/12pt and footnotesize around8.2/10.5pt. This gives figure
captions and compact tables a gentler size step from the body than class
defaults. Check existing wide tables after this adjustment; retain a local
smaller table size only where the content genuinely needs it.
3. Raise muted evidence identifiers from7.2pt to7.5–7.6pt and preserve their
subdued color. They are currently the least readable text in ordinary viewing.
Keep identifiers separate from scientific bibliography citations.
4. Keep section15.3/19pt blue and subsection11.5/14.5pt dark. These already
   establish a coherent hierarchy. A slightly lighter section rule is optional;
do not add extra decorative rules or another type family.
5. A pale-blue abstract panel fits the existing callout palette and the reference.
Use a nearly invisible border,2–3pt radius,8–10pt internal padding, and a quiet
bold Abstract label. Preserve the cover's title hierarchy and generous space.
   Check that the longer new abstract does not collide with the original hero;
move that hero deliberately if it cannot retain a legible size on page1.
6. Keep captions below figures and above tables, with a bold lead phrase and
ragged/right or justified setting used consistently. Existing7pt caption skip
works. Do not enlarge captions enough to dominate the diagrams.
7. Preserve the figure colors already consistent with event/RGB/fusion semantics.
Existing vector plots and the architecture diagram are readable at full width.
New plots should use the same muted blue/teal/purple family and similar font
sizes, rather than the unrelated gray+blue appearance of the prior short draft.

Pagination checks for the expanded manuscript
- Original contents page fits21entries plus overview. The new sections may
overflow: reduce l@section's vertical insertion from.8em to.45–.55em, or allow
a deliberate two-page contents. Do not squeeze the whole document to save one
contents page. Keep the overview panel with adequate breathing room.
- Page31 leaves much whitespace after a short runtime subsection because the
following sequence figures start on forced pages. Check whether a local break
can be removed, but preserve the large signed trace plots as full-width pages.
- Keep the technical-supplement divider. Its generous whitespace is intentional
and aesthetically effective; update its date and scope, not its purpose.
- Long evidence tables should retain repeated headers, safe URL wrapping and
complete hashes/keys. Font consistency matters more than making them compact.
- Reflow after typography changes can create new widows or lonely section
headings despite original guards. Inspect every final rendered page.

Reference comparison
The inspected arXiv source uses Latin Modern9.3pt, two-column US Letter, a pale
blue full-width abstract, quiet black headings and centered folios. Its main
file disables the theme's running header. The compatible transferable elements
are restrained abstract styling, clean booktabs tables, coherent size hierarchy
and disciplined spacing. Retaining PHASE's XCharter, A4 and running identity is
the correct response to the user's latest explicit preference.

Verdict
The original is already aesthetically strong. A restrained typography pass,
updated first-page abstract, and careful reflow can improve comfort and polish
without replacing the visual design. No broad redesign is warranted.
